The Horizon Europe project  eVTOLUTION hosted its first public  workshop, "Novel Tools for Novel Aircraft”, on February 6, 2025, at the GKN Technology Center in Bristol, UK.  At this milestone event, project partners presented the initial outcomes of their work and outlined their plans for the next stages of the project.  eVTOLUTION is the first Horizon Europe project aimed at enabling an efficient, decarbonized, safe and quiet Urban Air Mobility (UAM).

The project partners met at GKN Aerospace (Bristol, UK) to discuss the progress accomplished during the last 6 months, mostly over the WPs 2 and 3. The WP2 developments concerned the upgrade of the simulation tools and experimental mock-ups. As for WP3, the final details were provided concerning the two mission profiles (constrained intracity Brussels Schumann - Brussels South Charleroi airport and unconstrained intercity Brussels Zaventem airport - Antwerpen airport) and aircraft layout (propellers diameters, positions relative to the wing, etc.). Furthermore, design exercises, to be executed in the following months within WP4, were selected.

Successfull meeting in presence of the partners, leading experts in the field from various institutions across Europe, both academic and industrial: the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics (Belgium), TU Delft (the Netherlands), Politecnico di Torino (Italy), University RomaTre (Italy), DLR (Germany), Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium), the University of Bristol (UK), Vertical Aerospace (UK), GKN Aerospace (UK), HIS Global (UK), Mejzlik Propellers (Czech Republic) and Heathrow Airport Limited (UK).
